CLIMATE
This area of Andalucia has one of the best/healthiest climates in Europe with well over 300 days of sunshine each year.
The wettest months statistically are April and October. The rain rarely lasts for more than 2 days, but it can be torrential whilst it lasts!
Winter temperature highs average 13-19 degrees Celcius with about 7 hours of sunshine daily and, in sheltered spots, temperatures often reach the low 20 degrees. However, it does go very cold as soon as the sun starts to go down so warm clothing is required for Winter evenings. January and February are beautiful months to visit as all the Almond Trees are in blossom making the countryside look snow covered.
Spring and Autumn are our favourite times of the year in this area. Between March and May the fields are full of wild flowers, especially Poppies of all colours and wild Orchids.
Summer temperatures average 26-34 degrees C. Here in the mountains there is usually a gentle breeze to take the sting out of the heat. The hottest months are July and August.
For accurate weather forecasts, and a live webcam over the lake, have a look at www.malagaweather.com whose weather station is just a few hundred meters from Casa Ianda near the Lake Viñuela dam.
